As a core element of the Ponton X technology, Ponton X/P , delivers the ebXML-based data transfer technology that, above all, provides extensive security functions, but additionally offers functions such as data compression and signatures based on PKCS or XML standard. Ponton X/P provides the option of using a built-in Certificate Authority (CA) or external CAs from companies such as VeriSign®, Thawte® or GlobalSign®.

Extensive surveillance and reporting functions coupled with a freely configurable event handler that can execute defined actions like sending an e-mail, give administrators a maximum of control and users a maximum of transparency. This includes, for example, the safe data exchange from the DMZ (Demilitarized Zone) into the Secure Zone with the Listener module in Ponton X/P. The Listener is also able to handle various firewall-scenarios.

Another important aspect in B2B integration is the reliability of the data exchange. To ensure reliability, the Ponton X Suite uses the ebXML Standard “reliable messaging” which, for example, allows acknowledgement configuration according to validity period, local time, number of retries and other aspects. In addition, the recipient’s electronic signature can be included in the acknowledgement as proof of receipt, so that the successful transmission and receipt of the information can be tracked in detail. In addition to ebXML Ponton X/P supports the AS1 and AS2 standards.

The Ponton X infrastructure is not limited to integrating the communication of business partners within the same industry. The advantages of creating more secure more standardized and more highly automated paths of communication between databases or materials management systems reach even further. Parallel to the high degree of acceptance within the same industry we have seen Enterprise communities evolving where entire supply chains are taking advantage of the benefits that the Ponton X technology has to offer.

Examples of this development are enterprise communities like papiNet where the Ponton X based data exchange between paper companies, publishers and printers clearly brings to light the essential advantages of a flexible but standardized B2B infrastructure. The number of papiNet members has been growing worldwide for many years, a fact which highlights the need and acceptance of the technology based on Ponton X.

The over 20 European energy traders that have also chosen the Ponton X Suite as their standard for information exchange are an additional example.
